Black Lives Matter, Have You Seen The Full Story?

Black Lives Matter

By: Eden

Black Lives Matter or BLM is a community of many people or organization who are defending the validity of Black life on Earth and they’re being killed or hurt for not a good reason. Police are sometimes killing innocent, unarmed black people. Black Lives Matter affirms the lives of Black queer and trans, disabled, black-undocumented, and black with records. Women and all black lives along the gender spectrum. Communities of people are protesting, demanding for justice for unarmed people killed by police. The factors that interested me in this organization, is how they started, what are they demanding, and why they are demanding this. I believe that they are doing the better for the world.

Black Lives Matter have so many impacts to the world and seeing how it started may answer why they began this in the first place. To begin, one of the founders of the Black Lives Matter was Patrisse Cullors. She saw the bad of the world and how black lives are being treated. She wanted a change. As Ryan W. Miller said in USA Today, “The most important directive of Black Lives Matter, Cullors said, is to deal with anti-black racism, to “push for black people’s right to live with dignity and respect” and be included in the American democracy that they helped create.” This change shows that anti-black racism doesn’t matter or that it shouldn’t be worried about. But people who are getting hurt from it or hurting themselves is crossing the line. Also, Black Lives Matter is an ideological and political intervention in this world where black lives are systematically and intentionally targeted for demise. Which is for the unarmed citizens. The authors Black Lives Matter of  wrote, “call to action for Black people after 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was post-humously placed on trial for his own murder and the killer, George Zimmerman, was not held accountable for the crime he committed.” From this situation lead to the BLM to start, Patrisse Cullors’ siblings (sisters), which are also the founders, Opal Tometi, and Alicia Garza, saw the trauma done to the earth and more to the blacks. In addition, have you seen a black person being a leader like a governor or something like that? I haven’t personally. People shouldn’t be judged by their skin tone. As Ryan W. Miller stated in USA Today, “We are not leaderless, we’re leader-full,” [Cullors] said.  “We’re trying to change the world… developing a new vision for what this generation of black leaders can look like.” In our world we haven’t seen many black leaders or black presidents for example, except President Obama. They may not be able to make everyone care about this but to be able to change the world for every black, white or mixed is important. To conclude, from these leaders noticing the bad things happening to blacks which can go on forever. Blacks may not get the full respect they deserve or as much as whites get. This stereotype needs to end. This is why they started this organization started.

The Black Lives Matter organization is finding ways to change, they are showing the demands that they want to accomplish. Likewise, many police officers and other RACES are killing black (mostly innocent) people. Many want an end of black folks in the world or in the country. Melissa Chan once wrote in Time, “In another, the groups demand “an end to the criminalization, incarceration, and killing of our people,” which includes abolishing capital punishment and eliminating the use of past criminal histories to determine eligibility for jobs and other services.” Have you heard the saying “Make America Great Again?” If you go look into history, you will see that America wasn’t that good back then. With slavery of black people and racism and people with power taking an advantage of it! Many people that are killing blacks are not being charge or getting the slightest punishment. Moreover, people have been killing black people and to get them to leave the country of America. Has anyone cared to see the how black folks felt? How many have thought of this? Trymaine Lee said in NBC News, “End the war on black people.” Ending wars may be hard but we have ended World War 1, World War 2 and made the constitution. We can make a change if everyone does their part. Furthermore, these bad reviews about blacks may have been brought up from past of people thoughts. This may lead them to think differently towards blacks. Lee wrote NBC News, “Reparations for past and continuing harms.” The harms that causing this and the past history that is going down generations to generations of these stereotypes people don’t want to change. Clearly, these demands also have been going for a while now with these past stereotypes. These demands make fit to why they are doing it.

BLM may have a lot of demands but there are reasons of why they choose these specific demands. Seeing how forcing won’t cause anything good to happen. Forcing may cause a worse job for the good you are trying to do. Lee in NBC News says, “We recognize that not all of our collective needs and visions can be translated into policy, but we understand that policy change is one of many tactics necessary to move us towards the world we envision, a world where freedom and justice is the reality.” Forcing won’t ever make amends. But creating a change everyday will finish the goal that we are meeting up to. Together we can get the respect we deserve with the police on our side. No matter what. It shouldn’t change their attitude if they see a Black. Lee says  in NBC News again, “the broader BLM banner, including Campaign Zero, have articulated clear aims to end police violence against blacks.” Polices main job is to protect all. Blacks are getting abused for speaking their mind while whites do the same! Races shouldn’t even have to bother the police officers to physically or mentally change their attitudes. Finally, whites if they care which they should, but help the blacks have the freedom that they have. Nothing against that. Lee states in NBC News, “The movement for black lives does not need my stamp of approval. Instead, I’m calling on other progressives — especially other light-skinned people of color, white people and leaders of the Democratic Party — to sit up and pay attention.” Black lives shouldn’t have something to stamp or to sign to have an approval of doing something good in the world. Briefly, they are doing these demands to convince people, end violence on blacks, and that change is good. These are their main reasons why they are doing this. Black Lives Matter needs this to end the difficulties that go with blacks.

Seeing all these people doing this is risky and seeking for their own voice. For this i would say that they can’t go back in the past and change it by making lives of blacks better.  They can change the future by saying what they are thinking by not making the world make the same mistake twice. As Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about the things that matter.” If you are black and you think you’re ugly, or disabled or unworthy of living life then you are definitely and absolutely wrong. Black Lives do matter and you should listen to their background story and see how and why they are demanding for black lives to stay bright and alive. To end violence with blacks, end the continuous fight about blacks, and not to rely on the past mistakes of blacks history and how they were treated. BLACK LIVES DO MATTER!
